Der Gesetzesentwurf House Bill 1267, “An Act to allow nurse midwives to practice as independent practitioners” ist am 14.2.2007 abgelehnt worden.

“Just a quick comment. You know, my concern sometime comes around, you know, the nurse-midwife – they are probably pretty good at what they do. I don’t understand a lot of that stuff – nor do I want to get involved in a lot of the birthing process anymore than I have to, but there’s other issues than just birthing in a lot of cases. There’s medical issues. And I don’t if the training goes out beyond that scope far enough so that if a prescription or medication is given – which this gives them authority to do – that they can also further understand conditions of heart, disease, diabetes, other complications that we as a Board here don’t know unless we are a physician. Um, it is a narrow scope, and you know, 90% of these things are generally complication-free, but when it becomes secondary issues that we don’t know, nor maybe the midwife, we’re giving ‘em a lot of leeway and a lot of freedom to put medications in a person, which could have bad effects – not only for that person, but possibly the newborn.”
und Representative Rave:
“If I could just make a brief comment as well. Ladies and Gentlemen,
If we – this [legislative] process moves slowly, and it moves slowly for a reason. If we pass this bill out and it goes all the way though and becomes law, then next year when the nurse-practicioners come in, or the physicians’ assistants, frankly – either one of those groups – then we better be prepared to let them practice independently as well. So I mean, they set up their own clinic, have a practice. I understand what the nurse-midwives do. I understand that’s in a home, but it’s still having an independent practice. Independent of the physician. If you feel it’s okay to do that, then we should pass this. And then next year, when the nurse-practicioners and the PAs come in, then we better be prepared to let them open up clinics on the corner and practice alone as well, ’cause that’s exactly what this bill [HB 1267] does. Thank you.”
So unverschämt ignorant!
Was meinen Sie?
